Same old song. The Republicans will accuse the Democrats of hating the military and wanting to cut spending while our troops are in two wars. The Democrats will fold like a wet paper towel. The cream for the Republicans is that some Democrats will vote for cloture but against the bill meaning they are on both sides of the issue. They will then have to explain why they "were for it before they were against it".

How can they do it? They don't have the senate and I don't think they can get it next year either.

From what I've read, they will only remove the defense cuts. The domestic cuts will still go through.

If the two sides fail to reach an agreement shortly, historic cuts in the military will happen, and there will be no finger to point because we will all be responsible for the outcome, including both parties. On top of that the domestic cuts come out of Medicare provider reimbursements (I think) and given the escalating cost of healthcare that doesn't sound bad either.

Do I misunderstand or has Obama locked a defense cut and a cut to health care costs?
