OP here - thanks so much for the recommendations. Had a delicious lunch at Chef Geoff's -- very kid-friendly and great staff!

The food is good, but it's cafeteria-style, not a traditional menu/sitdown restaurant.

Elephant and Castle isn't great, but is probably about as good as Chef Geoff. Depending on food preferences and walking distance, you could go to Teaism, Oyamel, Hill Country BBQ, District of Pi (or Ellas).

I'd say either Chef Geoff's Downtown or Old Ebbit Grill. You can walk to either.

Also, Chef Geoff's. That would be walkable from the museum.

Depending on how far you are willing to walk/metro... you could hop on the yellow line to Chinatown, then walk half a block to Clyde's.

Looking for a kid-friendly, sit down restaurant near the American History Museum for a group that includes two 8 year olds. Thanks!
