I know for me, the best thing is to go to a "grown up" restaurant where I can dress up and feel pretty and eat a very leisurely meal of upscale food that no one is going to spill on me and that I can take the time to chew

If you can find a place that has reservations available, even better. It is always great to walk right into a reserved table.

Live music makes it even better, like a jazz quartet or quiet piano music.

The kind of place you went to when you were newly married, childless and care free.

The hirschorn usually has some events on fri.... Hirschorn after dark. Music/ art

Comedy club? Or something at the Berkshire?

My wife and I have a babysitter on Friday night for a few hours and i'm trying to surprise her with a cool date idea that doesn't involve the same restaurant and a movie.

I've been looking online but nothing seems to jump out at me. I found a cool place at the Smithsonian Jazz Cafe but it happens to be closed. Any fun or creative ideas (museum, jazz, show, neat restaurants, etc.). Was looking to do something in DC or Arlington.
