Or alternatively, you have a 14 year old daughter who is using porn or has a BF who is and is encouraging her to go bald. Where else does a kid get the idea that females must get rid of their pubic hair, hm? I pity YOU if that's the issue you're actually facing.

Are there special trimmers for girls? I mean, is it the same kind of trimmer I use on my 95 year old dad's hair???? (the kind on his head).

Trimmer. I would be more than a little worried why my 14 year old suddenly became concerned this issue. There may be more to this than a need to feel "cleaner."

Take her with you once so she can see you get it done -- she will be so horrified she will forget all about it.

I agree. Waxing is no picnic, especially if you're doing it at a cheap place. If it's not a cheap place, I don't know that I'd be up for spending the money to have it done for DD, especially out of season. Let her get used to a trimmer or let her shave for a while - unless, of course, she uses her babysitting money to pay for it herself.

Get her a trimmer, and explain or show her (like on an armpit) how to trim the hair so that it's short and even. That will provide more cleanliness, without being as big a commitment as waxing.

For me I just wouldn't want to pay for it all the time too! I don't even have enough $$ to feel fine waxing my own all the time.

Why doesn't she want to shave it? It would seem like it would be a lot less painful for a kid...I mean, she can shave it as easily to make it 'cleaner' just as easily as waxing. Plus, it's cheaper.

I only have a young DD at this point, but honestly, I shaved when I was that age with fine results. Are you dead-set against it, or just in shock?

OP here. She insists that her friends are asking their moms the same. She think it'll make her feel "cleaner" down there, which could be a reaction to her first period not too long ago.

Well, to offer an alternate perspective (not a mom's-- I mean I'm a mom, but of a little one) I was very self-conscious about hair down there at that age. Less so now. With brazilians (the procedure) shown on tv, kids just know about this stuff much earlier now. I would go with her if you're going to let her get it done, and make sure the tech understands she just needs a trim for bathing suit attire. (Also you could easily punt this until bathing suit season returns.)

I think you need to have a conversation with her about why she wants this.

What do you all think? Are our daughters REALLY wanting to wax it of ALREADY? I mean it just started growing for crying out loud. What is this world coming to?
