How much are your kids taking out in loans?

Our kids are 14 and 11, and we have about $200K total. It's the best we have been able to do.
OP, I think you are doing great.

It's a relief to see responses that are similar to what mine would be - pretty much nothing. I don't normally see those folks come out of the woodwork but it's nice to see we're not the only ones in that situation (misery loves company?). FWIW, our kids are only 3 and 1 and we just bought a house. Hopefully, in the coming years, we'll be able to save up a decent amount. If not? We'll pay what we can from savings, pay whatever we can out of pocket, and then we'll do what our parents did for portions of our college education - get loans for it. Not the end of the world.

4K for the 4yo and 3K for the 3yo.
It is a very hard for us to save right now.
My mom has something set up for each of them but I don't count that since I don't know how much or even discuss it with her.

$0
We are saving up for a down payment for a house and saving for retirement. No money left over. Our kids are 2 and 4.

12k for a 14 yo. We have the ability to pay for college out of cash flow if we maintain our current careers, so hopefully that is what we will do....we got a late start- very young parents with no disposable income until now!

We have VA Pre paid plans for each child which is enough to cover in state tuition. Each child also has a 529 account, about $75,000 each. That would be more than enough if they go in state, just about right if they go out of state public and a bit short if they go private. The kids' ages range from 7-17.

We've got about $100K each for two kids, but they are 17 and 15. We're looking at public in-state, hopefully.

Wondering how much everyone has in savings- these college calculators are not very good at estimating. Also- can anything we put in a 529 also go to books etc? We have for our K $90K and our 4 year old $80K - since we;re in our early 40s I want to put in as much as possible while we both are employed.
