PP, you should post on the health forum.

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but I need a good PT in MoCo for acute tendonitis in the shoulder and hip, with attention to a recurring SI joint displacement/injury and some attention to myofascial pain dysfunction localized to the jaw. Any thoughts on the best practice -- I need someone with early morning and later afternoon hours ideally who takes BCBS. I can do DC if parking isn't a major issue at the practice (the PT at my ortho's office is $12/hour to park and I'd prefer to avoid that add-on cost).

This is a long shot, but I would call the local universities that have PT programs (Howard, College Park, Georgetown, and GW -- I think). If you are willing to work with a DPT candidate who may be a certified PTA, you may have success (I would only do this with the supervising faculty member's awareness and permission). There is also a chance that the faculty members or adjuncts may be willing to do this.

Good luck.

14:04 here. This is the ITS website: http://www.its-dts.com/aboutdts.html Sorry I didn't post it before--I know it doesn't come up easily in a Google search. The PP who said they don't have a PT looks to be right but they do have a big motor room so it might be worth a call anyway.

We have our appointment at EIA at 8 in the morning. It's very peaceful. I think if you stress to the PT your child's need for privacy and non-distractions, I'm sure they will work with you.

Not a previous poster, but ITS does not have a PT on staff, unless they've hired one since last year. Also, the only OT on staff that is NDT trained (rather than solely sensory) is Terri, and she is difficult to schedule.

I know what you mean about EIA in Rockville. Might help if you call to ask if there is any time available where your dd can be treated in one room, undisturbed throughout the entire session, and all the other PT's must be alerted to this (because they do roam from room to room which we also did not like)

Unfortunately, in MoCo, very limited options for PT! Very sad, but very true. I've heard there are some options in VA if you are willing to travel there.

Does ITS have a website? I googled them and couldn't find one. I'd definitely like to check them out and give them a try to see if it could work. Are there any PT's that you've met there that you'd recommend?

We got to ITS in Kensington for other services (which have been great). Their PT motor rooms are designed for one client at a time. One plus with them, at least with our provider, is that the bills are written correctly (codes/dates of service) and we have been getting partial reimbursement from insurance.

We tried EI when she was a bit younger and she didn't do well there because of all the other sessions going on around us. After every session, I had to leave with her screaming and completely freaking out. I think because of her vision impairment and sensory issues, she does better in a quieter setting with less going on around her. I think a small PT office where there's only say her session, or 1 other session going on, could work.

Any other recommendations besides EI? We need someone really great that can handle her complex issues. We're already on the waitlist for PT at CNMC.

Also, we had the same experience with MCITP! That's why we've branched out to doing more private therapy.

All of the PTs at EIS are fantastic.

I'll take out-of-the-home recommendations as well. We've had a couple of PT's that have come to us because of our daughter's medical issues. She has global delays, sensory issues, and complex medical issues as a result of a brain injury after she was born. She receives PT, OT, Vision, Speech, etc.

Very rare for PT's to go to the home, as most have their equipment in a larger office space. If you hook up with a PT who normally only does office visit, after working with them a while, you MIGHT be able to get them to on occasion work with your child at home.

What is your child's main 'need'?

I can recommend a number of good PTs but I don't know any that will go to your home.

Hi there! Can anyone recommend a private PT that will provide services in the home in Montgomery County, MD? We're looking for private PT outside of Infants & Toddlers.
