Me too. The anxiety of all of that doesn't seem worth keeping my natural boobs (especially after two kids!). With your genetics they may be ticking time bombs. You could get a really nice new set AND peace of mind.

As a bc survivor, I find both your posts offensive. Getting "perky new boobs" is no consolation for having your breasts removed either prophylactically or due to cancer. It sucks every way you look at it, and you know what? They typically take your nipples too - so no, it's not like you get some nice new *normal looking* set.

Well, I'm sorry to have offended you...it was certainly not my intent to offend cancer surviors. My point is that with that family history I would have mine prophylactically removed and get implants. Of course it sucks any way you look at it but at least there is the option for prophylactic surgery and reconstruction which isn't the case for many other cancers. You can't remove a lung or liver so I was trying to keep a scary situation light hearted which is probably what the other poster was doing too. Cancer has touched my life as well.

OP here. Thank you all for your kind words and stories -- they helped get me through the night. I spoke with my doctor who had the actual report in hand and she isn't worried. Apparently no lumps, just double-checking where the mammogram wasn't as clear. Phew!

I got an email for additional testing. Turned out it was a lymph node - normal but not 100% common. Stressed me out but it was nothing.

I had a mammo with findings (calcifications) which can be associated with cancer insutu (spelling?). I had stereotactic core biopsies of the areas and they came back clean. I had a follow up mammo a year later and they were gone. The verdict was that I still had some kind of remnants from breastfeeding that lit up like calcs. I had weaned 6 months prior.

OP, there are a lot of false alarms. I even had a biopsy for an ultrasound "finding" that turned out to be scar tissue from a previous biopsy.

Follow the procedure through, because it's best to check this out, but the jury is still waaaay out on what has actually been found.

Calcium deposits are common to a degree I know a number of people who got call backs because of that. All turned out fine. It just means they want to look at something, but it does not mean there is definitely a serious problem.

I knew I had one lump but when I had the mammogram, they found three. All three removed in 1998. All good. Best to you during this worrying time.

my doctor told me once that if it's anything they are really worried about they would call her first...and she would be calling me.

most call backs are false alarms but always better to be safe than sorry.

I had a lump on one of my mammograms a while back and I had it removed (lumpectomy). It turned out to be a benign tubular adenoma (they can go anywhere in your body...). It was quite large though and I'm glad that it is gone, but they told me that it probably would have never turned cancerous.

I had to have a needle biopsy after a mammogram found "something." I was stressed out, particularly because of my family history, but the procedure was simple, and in my case the end result was nothing to worry about. I hope the same for you.

Need some BTDT stories. I'm the OP of the mammogram thread from a couple of days ago and I AM being called back for more tests. My doctor's office was already closed today so I don't even know what the "finding" was on the mammogram report that she was sent. She would know, right? She would have the actual report that says what they saw, right? I guess I have to wait until morning. Crap.
