My only issue with Paypal is how they used to handle large payments. I don't know if they do it anymore. They use to cap their monthly transfer to one person at like $2,000. If you sent a $6,000 payment, they'd pay it out over 3 months. Not so handy when you're selling a motorcycle.

I've used paypal a lot and it is very safe. They do charge you a percentage but you can request that the payee pay it since they wanted to use paypal.

Actually, this is not true. The fees are imposed at the time of the transaction, they do not charge you for moving the money to your account.

Perhaps this has changed since the last time I accepted money (probably 5 years) because I remember not having to pay any money until I moved it.

I really love paypal now. I used it to buy something that ended up being a scam. I contacted them and they helped walk me through the appeals process. I ended up getting a full credit to my account with no hassel.

I use them for ebay purchases and anythign else online.

I use paypal to pay on other websites when it's an option just because that limits the number of different sites I give my credit card information to.

Are they paying via check or credit card? If by check you will need to wait a few days for it to clear. Do not let them pick up the item until the check clears the Paypal account.

There are fees associated with accepting money via Paypal. You will need to figure this out and add it to the amount. I'm not sure how this works since you have a personal account and not a retail account. There are paypal calculators available -- just google.

I think so. I've used it as a payor and a payee and never had any issues. (though it does charge a small fee, i think, so you want to include that in your calculations of how much you'll actually get paid.) I think it's probably the safest way to pay a stranger these days, and would definitely use it for a craigslist purchase if they didn't have the cash.

I'm trying to sell something on Craigslist and someone wants to pay by Paypal. I've got an account, but have rarely used it, and don't know much about it. I've never used it to get money, just pay. Is it relatively safe to accept payment this way?
