OP, if you're checking in, I'm curious as to what you chose. We went with Luther Jackson and were very happy. What you describe is very Lake Wobegon and I wonder how it was implemented.

Pretty easy year for my GT student. We had a nice time in the family, however.

The AAP curriculum and the honors curriculum are different. If your child has been happy at the AAP center and you feel that curriculum is a good fit for her/him, you might want to consider the AAP center you are assigned to. The AAP center will continue the type of instruction and atmosphere your child is accustomed to.

I have a 6th grader in the AAP Center and our options for next year are honors classes at Thoreau or the center at Luther Jackson.

I'm trying to educate myself on the differences and have been looking at the course selection guide on Thoreau's website.

The course selection sheets say ALL 7th graders (with a few exeptions) will take honors history and honors science, and ALL 8th graders (with a few exceptions) will take honors civics & honors science. I'm kind of confused as to how the rationale for this. Are these really honors courses if the entire grade is enrolled, i.e., is this accelerated/advanced instruction in these subject areas? Who is taking the non-honors classes in these subjects?
