UC Santa Cruz. Hands down, has to be the school with the most vegan/vegetarian options both on campus and in town.

I agree. To take schools off of the list because they do not serve vegetarian meals? Can she not cook her own meals? My son is a strict vegan and off at college, and will make his own meals as he feels more comfortable that way.

St. Mary's College of Maryland has a vegetarian co-op on campus as well as apartments and townhouses on campus with their own kitchens. It is a very "environmentally-conscious" campus.

Oh, and 10:19 here. You may want to check out Sierra magazine's Greenest Colleges list. I think I remember reading on several of them about vegetarian this or that.

Warren Wilson College has a vegan cafeteria option (2 cafeterias) and they grow a lot of their own food on campus! They also have a co-op as a housing option.

I graduated from there 10 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss that wonderful place.

Oberlin serves 50% vegan in their dining halls and has a vegan co-op as a housing option.

Dc has taken a couple of schools that she was interested in off the list, because she read somewhere that access to vegetarian food, both in the cafeteria and in the surrounding area, is limited. Does anybody know of a book, an elist, or any other source of information that either discusses or ranks schools based on how vegetarian-friendly they are? Anecdotes also appreciated.
