Bing! From stamps in the ol' passport to a shoebox of certifications, glorious mistakes and hearty adventures! All of this came way ahead of these kids. But, ever since I've decided to have them, they've been put first in terms of expense, time, and focus.

I guess what I'm suggesting is that now my "personal development" is taking place along the lines of experiencing the rigors of motherhood-----be it arts and crafts or the challenges of increased time management. I'm certainly more creative in my cooking!

I added two activities for myself this year after many years of being all about the kids. One with the kids, one without them. It's about 7-8 hours per week spent on me and has been completely worth it.

I told my husband we're not having kids so that we can send me to cool classes and him to music lessons.

If we were smart, we'd actually stick to that...

So what is preventing you from signing up for an adult ed drawing class? Or ceramics? Or taking a cooking class?

Not enough. Maybe 2 hours a week.

I have wondered the same thing. My kids have such fun and I always wonder why I am not taking part. So my answer is not enough!

I have often wondered why moms send their kids to fabulous sounding classes and extra-curriculars like drawing classes, music, ballet, etc. but don't take these kinds of classes themselves. How much time do you spend on your own personal development? This could include reading, book clubs, adult ed classes (cooking, painting), yoga, etc.
