Yup, I do and have.

Once, when my fussy 8 month old was not-so-patiently waiting I actually used a multiple-stall men's room that was completely empty (there was a BIG line for the women's room.) Anyway, one guy came in as I was leaving and I didn't even get a weird look from him.

I think restaurants with 2 one-stall bathrooms should just put uni-sex signs on the door. Help women feel less weird about using both.

In my college town, this would be a felony. Because of that, I have never done it.

I do it and I don't think it is weird at all.

I use the men's room in a situation like this ALL the time. Usually because my kid has REALLY got to pee. Sorry, there is no reason to wait.

Hell yeah I use the men's bathroom and it's been my experience that the men's bathroom is cleaner than the ladies bathroom. I cant tell you how many times there was a line snaking out the women's bathroom and no one in the men's. I wait til I know there is no one in there, do what I have to do and get out. I find myself doing it more during the Christmas season when stores are extra busy but I have done it at parks, restaturants...pretty much everywhere. Dont care if I get shocked looks....let them stand there in a 20 deep line.

I've done this since forever and got all kinds of looks from EWWWW to HOW COME I'VE NEVER THOUGH OF THIS BEFORE and in my small sample size I've learned that both bathrooms are equally disgusting. Sometimes the man's stinks a bit more but their toilet is always cleaner... man rarely use the toilet.

Funny - i was at a restaurant the other night that has onesie bathrooms and we were waiting for the ladies' one. A guy came out of it, with his daughter. I thought that was kind of weird, but whatev. (Then I kicked myself for waiting and not just going into the mens' one.)

Another idea. Would it be possible to have some sort of movable partition in stadiums or concert venues that could be adjusted in response to actual events (e.g. if there's a 20-minute line for the women's room and no wait for the men's room, move the barrier to open up a couple of the stalls in the men's room for women.)

Or (I hate to go into stereotyping here), adjust the barrier based on the projected audience (e.g. 80/20 women/men for an Indigo Girls concert, 60/40 women/men typically, 20/80 women/men for a Star Trek convention.) FWIW I understand a women's restroom can get disgusting after a while.

I'd go as long as there are no men waiting. I figure they get a turn first.

i've used them. as long as the door is lockable and no man is waiting, why not? seems silly to wait.

I've done it before, as long as there were no men waiting. In fact, I've actually had men who see a line of women waiting who use the bathroom, look around, and tell us that we may as well use the men's bathroom.

I honestly think that restrooms like that should be unisex anyway.

I was out yesterday, and left my busy kids with their grandparents for a minute to go to the bathroom. There were two single-occupant restrooms, men's and women's. Three women waiting, one man exited. So I gestured to the vacant restroom, sort of an "anyone?" query? One woman said in a "duh" tone of voice, "that's the men's room". I shrugged, went in, peed, and was out before the first woman in line had her turn. A different waiting woman looked a little shocked.

Is this so weird? They were one-holers, not stalls. It was clean enough. It was vacant. What would you have done-- gone ahead, or waited behind three other women for "your" restroom?
