PP here, you might also want to look at a leather softening agent and gel pads and heel cushions. may have to go up a size but could be that you're getting bonier-as we age, we lose fat from our feet (and sadly seem to put it elsewhere).

Soft brand (or Sofft?), decent looking shoes, easy on the feet. I have also had good luck with Fitzwell brand, pretty nice boots and workshoes. for higher end boots, La Canadienne, but they are $$$

Seriously, Ecco, Merril, Naturalizer. Those brands just scream that you have given up. For heels try Cole Haan's Nike Air line or maybe Stuart Weitzman depending upon the shape of your foot (SW fits me well, but I have high arches and high insteps). Please, please don't buy Merrill or the like.

as i get older, my feet are such trouble! i'd love to hear of a shoe or a brand that requires no breaking in. my heels are particular trouble spot. always bleeding with new shoes...
