I live in LA and spray tan year round. Fake Tan is better than looking like an old handbag. I use mystic tan, it's around $20 and I use level 2 (there are 3 levels). I never use the bronzer, you can turn it off that's what makes you orange.

I'm the Nectar poster from before--I just got one there tonight. I'm the WHITEST person ever (I'm like one shade up from see-through) so they just do a light coat on me. A stranger probably couldn't tell the difference, but I feel like 100 times prettier. It's just like a good pick-me-up when you have an event (or, like you're heading to Vegas).

+ 1. But a light spray tan can do wonders, if it's done right! Just don't get medium or dark if you have fair skin.

If you can tell it's fake, then it's trashy.

NP here. If you don't have the ability to get tan naturally, do they look stupid? I have fair skin, and I definitely have that summery look by the end of summer, but it isn't a tan color really... just curious.

Versa Spa is great (they have it at Palm Beach Tan around here), I think it is easier to get right then Mystic Tan. I haven't done it in a few years, but was always getting compliments when I did...

22:08 - they only look trashy if you can tell it is a fake tan. Good ones should look like you spent the weekend poolside with a cocktail in your hand and not a care in the world.

Nope, I meant are they passe, as in, are they out of style now. The last person I knew with one was 3 years ago and it was terribly orange. No need to be snarky, just asking an honest question...my group of friends doesn't do them, so I have no way of knowing they were still "in" or not.

To the pps who gave helpful advice, thanks! I'll try to get to Nectar this week

Even if you look like an oompa loompa, you're going to Vegas so you probably won't look too out of place with the orange.

Nectar Skin Bar in Georgetown's spray tans are the best--they're organic and not organgey at all (they'll custom mix the color for you)--and it's cheap--like $55 for your whole body.

They have gotten much better in the last few years. Airbrush is better than the booth spray.

I have a bachelorette party in Vegas next weekend, and will be showing some skin...sadly, said skin is white white white. I'd love to have some color, but I don't really have the time currently (with a 5 month old) to apply self-tanner religiously for several days. So, never haven gotten one, are spray tans acceptable, or are they just a short-cut to orange-ville? I'd rather be white than orange...
