Had a picture of my son in my office, when a new employee walked in and asked me how old my grandson was. C'mon. I was 36 when I had my son. That's not that old. I never did get along with that fellow coworker after that.

I was 36 when I had my baby. I too was in a grocery store when asked if I was his grandmother. That was tough.

I remember being in a grocery store with my baby when I was 38 and being asked if DC was my grandchild. Granted, it was in a largely rural state. But I was put out!

Maybe you just look your age? Once someone asked me if I was a grandmother, and I told them that that was a way's off, my child was 12 or however old he was at the time.
Guess what. That year, I lost 30 pounds and started coloring my hair! Now people think I'm 10 years younger.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because, like most of us, I like to think that I look younger than I actually am. Is my time and money have my hair professionally colored going to waste? And all those great anti-aging beauty products?

Well if he seemed like he was from an area where being a grandparent at a relatively young age, why are you bothered?

It's not you!!! Poor old guy; he's probably a great grandfather and you look like his daughter to him! I'm in the same boat as you -- 48 with K age DS. I've stopped wondering about how old people are. It's so hard to guess so not worth trying. Chin up!
