Over the years, I have gotten several phone calls / emails from schools on the OOB wait list. On other occasions, I have not heard from schools where given the wait list number my child had, and the number of school slots, I've been very surprised. I've concluded the wait lists are not always followed, and when I really would like my child to attend a particular school, I call every 3 to 4 weeks.

School staff have always been responsive and polite during those calls, including Lafayatte for an upper grade OOB.

We are in boundary and never got the call, but I decided early on that we were not going to hang out on the waitlist forever. Maybe they sent something saying I had to respond to stay on the list and I didn't bother.

Everyone in boundary got in, although I understand some of those calls came in August.

I don't have stats, but we were just above 15th on the waitlist for in-boundary and were admitted the beginning of April. I know of at least one family that does aftercare for their PK student but I don't know the details. Without knowing, I would think there must be an open house coming up which was valuable for us to attend.

We are moving into the Lafayette boundaries and have a child who will be eligible for pre-K next year. How competitive is the lottery for Lafayette pre-K, does anyone have the stats from the last lottery handy? Also, is either/both before and after care available for pre-K students? From the LAP website it looks like it may not be. tia
