I love smoking. Really, I'd be right there with you, except I came to the realization that every pack I bought was giving money to cigarette companies that were marketing to my kids. So I stopped, but somehow rationalize bumming one off of someone else about once a month when I'm out. I realize there's no actual difference, but at least I didn't personally give the evil guys money...right? Ok, totally no difference. I should probably stop bumming them, too.

Inner bad ass? How old are you? So not cool. 1 or 2 a day is still terrrible for your health. Yuck. Just picture your black, polluted lungs. If that is not incentive to quit, I do not know what is!

The casual smokers are giving bad advice. How much you smoke matters but so does how long you have been smoking, even if it is occasional. For example, the studies of weekend smokers show that their arterial walls are not as elastic as non-smokers. That is a good predictor of heart disease. And that's just occasional smoking. You re doing it daily.

Inner badass poster, I remember you. It's been over a year and you are still posting the same thing. You don't need a drug to be a badass. Really, I have been there too.

Sight! I wish I was able to smoke only 1-2 cigarettes per day/week.... Oh, I miss it sooooo much! I miss going outside and smoking a cigarette all by myself. But I know I can't have one because I won't be able to stop at one...... Enjoy your cigarette!

I smoke slightly less than you do - 1-3 cigarettes a week. at my worst, I probably had 10 cigs a week. I've given it up entirely for a year or so (had not smoked for 6 months when I got pregnant) and it wasn't remotely difficult, but I really like smoking. It brings out my inner bad-ass somehow. I don't really get to do much that's bad for me these days. I never smoke around my daughter and I've never smoked in our house. I didn't feel any better when I quit, and I didn't run any better (I used to marathon and I'm still pretty serious) so I'm not sure I'll ever fully quit unless a doctor tells me to do so.

1-2 cigs a day shouldn't be a prob. Unless maybe it's causing some serious self esteem problems. 1-2 cigs is a lot better than 1-2 packs a day. Different conversation.

Please. If you keep it to one or two a day, after the kids are asleep, don't stress. Wash up, brush your teeth, change your clothes.

I am a child of the 70s. I remember neighbors smoking only on a Friday night. And my mom only put out an ashtray at parties. We are still enjoying the company of these folks, now in their '80s.

Just saying.

I know, OP, I know. But it's the smell at this point. You are just saturating yourself with a noxious smell for a few minutes of pleasure. It's like smear feces on yourself for how bad it smells. anything more than 1 is a health risk and the smell is as bad as feces. You have to just stop.

Do it for DC if you won't do it for yourself. No second-hand smoke for them or bad habit to pick up. And you might live longer and have a healthier, quality life!

On and off since I was a teenager I enjoyed the occasional cigarette. Stopped for years when I was pregnant, but picked up again a couple of years ago.

My problem isn't that I can't quit the 1-2 cigarettes a day, it's that I don't want to. I really enjoy them like some people enjoy a cigar or a glass of wine at the end of the day. Is it really that bad?
