I received a list of things to eat that should help lessen nausea. 1. Don't go more than 4 hours without eating and 2. each time you eat, eat a combo of protein and sugar. These two things together are supposed to regulate your blood sugar. Snack examples are: peanut butter, crackers and sprite; cheese toast, whole grain bread, fruit juice; slice of cheese and an apple; dry roasted nuts and 7Up; Wendy's frosty. Also, eat small amounts (duh, like we could do anything else), avoid greasy, spicy, oily foods including butter/margarine; avoid all sodas other than sprite, gingerale or 7Up as other soda (diet or not) has phosphoric acid which makes nausea worse; Keep crackers by your bed (saltines, not buttery crackers) and when you wake up, while lying down, eat a few crackers then wait a few minutes, sit up slowly, dangle legs off bed for a few minutes before trying to stand.
Okay that was all taken off the sheet of paper they gave me. In reality -- I do the cracker thing by the bed. I drink a gingerale for breakfast every morning and believe this helps immensely. For some reason I can stomach an egg mcmuffin -- so I either make that at home or I get one at McD's but I only eat half the english muffin part. For lunch I've been buying a grilled chicken wrap and dumping out the contents in a bowl. I pick through the chicken and try to eat a few veggies and then eat part of the wrap. Lots of peanut butter on toast, crackers, by itself. Lots of grilled chicken generally. Brown rice in small bits. Now that I think about it I guess I'm not really eating very well either....so...never mind.
