Here are the cutoff scores from 2010.
DC's always seems to have the highest, with Massachusetts.
I wonder what Virginia having a higher cutoff would do to the numbers. Ditto Maryland.

It would be a surprise if that weren't the case. NMSF are the top 1/2% of PSAT takers. TJ students are probably the top 1% based on the admissions test they took 2-3 years earlier. I guess that also explains why the other Fairfax County schools have such low numbers - the top students/test takers have all been funneled to TJ.
I wonder how the other TJ students did and how many NMSF were rejected in the TJ admissions process. There have been top math students who didn't get into TJ. That's a shame since no other high schools offer the courses for those students.

No, it's never been even close to half the class at TJ. There are about 450 in each TJ class. Still an impressive number and all kids who earn SF status should be proud.

It's about 30% of the class, not 50%. PP's reasons are dead on, I think.
