HE'S ASLEEP! HE'S ASLEEP! Has been for 2hours!

My 16-month-old is potty training and pretty good about always getting on the toilet! He only has about 10 words but one of them is poop! He also loves brussels sprouts and lima beans.

He also always snuggles with me, which makes me a happy mommy indeed. I love my not-so-baby boy!

My DD is 2 with an exploding vocabulary. I feel badly that I sometimes grab some "me" time while she's playing near me by watching C-SPAN. Lately DD has been repeating certain phrases over and over, and the one she's saying most often right now is, "Mr. President, Sir!"

Maybe she's a future White House Correspondent

Not a single mom, but working full time with DH across the country for an Army assignment the last 8 months. So, although I do get part of his income, I'm it went it comes to taking care of the kids/house/etc.

Anyway, last week, my 4 year old got out juice for himself and his younger brother while I was making dinner, and then asked what I wanted to drink. I thought it was so sweet! And later he put his toys away without me telling him to do it! Yeah!!

I am not sure what you mean by "small successes"? I mean really so your kid ate fruit? That's a success of single parenting?

My son knew I was sick and gave me his blanket, his pillow and told me to lay down and close my eyes. He said he would be right there playing in front of me and to let him know if I need anything. He is 4 years old. Such a little gentleman and it felt so good for him to take care of mommy.

i am a single mother who just moved to dc with a 22 month old. i'm trying to figure out how to get everything done, move in to our new home, start my new job, and find daycare. when i get home from work, my son says 'mom' at least 15 different ways. he's starting to use more and more words, which makes me feel like there is some progress in our lives.

My DD is in college. She called me today just to chat, she sounded so over-the-moon happy about her classes and her life.

I've been a single mom of two for over ten years with no child support or extended family. Many, many happy moments to you and your family.

When we were goofing around, I asked my four year old "Are you my beautiful, funny girl?" and she answered "No, I'm your smart girl!".

And then she started dancing around the living room to kids music and really had rhythm.

Thanks for starting this. And, no, I am not turning down the support of a partnered person who is bringing the positive. Ok, here's my little list:

DS has been rocking school so far this year, and is generally regarded as a great kid. Know where I found him at back to school night after I was done saying hello to the principal? Helping the two janitorial staffers fold the chairs in the auditorium. He volunteered.

I got the laundry and grocery shopping done AND changed the rabbit cage yesterday! Even got some bills paid! Woot! Stand back, next up is an oil change!

A neighbor recently commented that my son had really nice manners. I was overjoyed and floored.

Been taking DD to the bathroom with me since she was an infant and I always offer the potty to her when I'm done. When she was 20 months, one day we were in the grocery store and she announced she had to go potty! Still working on it, but she's been going in the potty every day since. (yea!)

Like your DS, DD will turn down chocolate for broccoli any day.

She bags the produce at the grocery store and loads the washer and dryer. I don't even have to ask anymore (she's nearly 22 months).

I'm having a tough time of it. DH moved out a few months ago, DD is due in just a few weeks. Can we please take a holiday from harsh talk and share some of the things that let you know you're doing something right?

1) I brought mini-cupcakes and strawberries to DS's birthday party. All of the other kids went for the cupcakes and left the fruit. DS ignored the cupcakes and ate all of the fruit. [Yay!!!]

2) Clearly agitated with his grandma taking up so much room on the sofa, DS nonetheless caught himself and gave a polite (if humorously intense) "Excuse me," as he gestured for her to move over. He's two years old. [Good manners and solid food choices! Mommy scores!!]

It's been so damned difficult adjusting to this new lifestyle, these little successes have come to mean an awful lot to me.
