Subject: Re:What is the 3rd grade curriculum in a AAP class
In third grade, my child did some 3rd grade math and then 4th grade math for the rest of the year.
But they did the usual 3rd grade curriculum for science and social studies. In third grade, AAP students take the same history and science SOL as all other third graders, so I don't think they deviate much from the curriculum in those subjects. They may do more or "extra" projects, but they cover the same material. Same in 4th grade. They do Virginia history in 4th grade because the 4th grade history SOL is all on Virginia history.
Since the 3rd and 4th grade reading SOL is mainly just reading comprehension and some grammar/spellingwriting mechanics, there is a lot more flexibility in the LA curriculum from school to school.

We were told this: 3rd grade math is completed in the 1st quarter, 4th grade math is completed in the last 3 quarters. Third grade also includes completing 4th grade language arts, science, and social studies (all 4 main subjects "compact" two years of work into one year.) That's why you hear the phrase "compacted math."

There isn't one. We can start one here.
I know that we're starting with 4th grade math from the get go.

Can someone point to some thread or provide some more information on what to expect in a 3rd grade AAP class? Thanks in advance.
