Where do you live? We had hand and foot two summers ago. It was the worst case my Dds ped had ever seen. I definitely don't want to repeat that!!

Swimmer's ear? I assume that is accompanied by a fever (correct me if I am wrong). We just got an email from our pool that swimmers ear is going around the pool rampant right now.

Ear infection is a definite possibility. Some kids have ear architectures that make them very prone to ear infections when water gets splashed in there.

Also, while chlorination + sunshine goes far in infection control, viruses can still spread.

It's called pool fever! And it can become an issue. Google or bing it

My three year old came down with it Saturday night. He's doing much better today (monday). Lethargy, flushed cheeks were about his only symptoms. I'd give Tylenol and he'd perk up until the dose wore off..and then we'd do Tylenol again.

4 kids were out of his preschool camp today citing 'fever'.

Oh-- and he wasn't in the pool. I chock this up to 'coincidence' for your child. he would have gotten it whether or not he was in the pool.

You are all acting like this is such a dumb question but I was noticing the same thing in my daughter. We had a string of take-her-to-the-pool-followed-by-fever weekends. I think it might be a little bit of an ear infection from the water getting in her ear or something, but there has definitely been a connection in our house.

You can pick something up anywhere, OP, but it's probably coincidental that he went swimming. And since the incubation period for different illnesses differs from a day to a few days to a week or even longer you're not going to figure it out. Why do you need to track down the source of a virus/flu/sore throat/etc. anyway? If he's sick, he's sick. Unless your child picked up salmonella and you need to inform the health department -- in which case, THEY will figure out where he got it.
