I've watched the show a few times -- all of the housewives are pure trash as far as I'm concerned.

I have a neighbor who is very, very small (short and petite-framed). She has a 5foot 10ish daughter who is very physically active. The daughter and I were talking last weekend about how her mother always gets on her about her weight. The girl is 21/college, has her act together and her mom is a phd. I was shocked. it's not cool.

And when it gets right down to it, whether you like it or not, her daughter does need to lose some weight. For her health, not for looks, but for her health. Her mom wants her to be healthy. Obviously weight is an issue in their family and her mother recognizes this and it is better for her to work on it now while she's young vs. trying to fight it when she's 40, had 2 kids and there's a million things going on in her life.

Like the other pp said, she was having a conversation with her ADULT DD. Not a teenageer. I would like to think that if I come to my mother for advice as an adult she will give it to me straight and be truthful. Life is not candy and peaches and her DD struggles with weight. Its not a shocker and Caroline was talking with her about it and used the "sausage case" as a weird analogy/ Not to be mean.

I bet she is 10 times better than your mothers!

Look, the way reality TV works is the producers say, "ok now go talk with each other about Lauren's weight struggles" and they do. Which is why it was on tv.... Are you new to how this works? Its all scripted.

PP here....yes, I've struggled with weight and my mom was pretty blunt, but not malicious. The fact was I knew I was carrying extra weight and to have my mom say that I wasn't wouldn't have helped me. Of course, she did it as kindly as possible and said I was beautiful no matter what. Weren't they having a discussion about weight and looks? It was the truth and I don't think it was done trying to be mean. The daughter was the one was said her fingers looked like sausages. I guess I come from a family that was loving, but very direct, so this didn't strike me as horrible.

Obviously the daughter knows that she's carrying some extra weight....what's a person/mother supposed to say or should she lie? The daughter is 23 not 13. I think Caroline was just trying to say it wasn't that much- just a little extra-in a joking sort of way.

She comes off self-righteous at times, but overall I like her.

Listening to that statement did give me pause, but not enough to stop liking her. That is a pretty shitty thing to say to your DD. She's such a pretty girl.

I absolutely love her! She is a great mother, wife and friend!

They are ALL obnoxious. I also hate how caroline has the answer for every inter personal and family issue, and how she acts so lovey dovey with her family.

I think she claims she lost weight by portion control. I wouldn't be surprised if she was lying though. I think her husband did have lap band. Caroline has been on her daughter all season about her weight. It's incredibly obnoxious.

Didn't Caroline have lap band surgery or a tummy tuck or something before this season herself?

Who says to her daughter, "Well maybe right now you have 8 pounds of sausage in a 5 pound bag" when discussing her weight with her?? On TELEVISION in front of the WORLD? What. a. b*tch.
