Circa is good in a quick and reliable kind of way. Not "special destination" dining, but if you want a basic, versatile menu where everything tastes good, there's a good selection of wine by the glass, and it's not going to break the bank, it's a standby. Not pretentious and they'll get you in and out on time if you tell them to. I usually drop by for a glass of wine and a bite when I'm in the neighborhood.

Farmers + Fishers at the G'town Harbor...short walk. (Someone else mentioned Founding Farmers, the sister restaurant...that is a much further walk from Foggy B.

Ris is fabulous and has a pre-theater menu (or did a year or two ago.) I nice walk to the KC.
I went to a show last weekend and had brunch at Farmers Fishers Bakers before. It was very good and a wonderful setting, also a very easy walk. If you have enough time to enjoy the setting I would suggest that.

Ancora at the Watergate of course - from Bob Kinkead. Upscale Italian and a stone's throw from the KC. It is seafood centric but enough non-seafood options.

Ok, I'm rehabbing this old thread because I have the same question. We're seeing The Producers on Thursday night. We've been to Founding Farmers and really liked it, but we want to try something different. We've also been to Notti Binacha (sp?) which we felt was fine, but not great. Marcel's would be wonderful, but too pricey for us. We can't go to a seafood restaurant (my friend hates seafood).

I need suggestions fast! We're willing to go somewhere in Foggy Bottom as I know there's not much close by the KC. Anyone been to Dish? Circa? Help!!!

Marcels has a very nice pre-theater menu and will drive you over. Blue duck isn't that far either.

The Rooftop is terrible! DH and I went a year ago before a show and it was expensive, portions are small, all food is pre-made (my steak looked like an airplace microwave steak).

I dont know areas around there that would be quick but dont waste your money at the Rooftop!

The Rooftop is expensive and not very good. They make it with a captive audience. I would go to Dish+Drinks or Notti Bianchi. Both places are walking distance to KC and will valet and keep your car for $10, which is way cheaper than parking under the KC. (I think it is $20 now) I had season tickets this year with friend and this is what we did for the shows we saw.

Which should we do next weekend before a show... rooftop restaurant or one nearby? Not familiar with the area, so any restaurant recs would be much appreciated!
