The cabins in the park are OK but have not been renovated in a pretty long time. Plus I like to be closer to restaurants, wineries etc.

We love hiking White Oak Canyon-- our boys 8-10 really like it too. Great waterfalls and not to strenuous.

We stayed at Hilltop And really loved it but Pondview looked really nice too. I don't think you can go wrong with either cabin.

Did you stay in the Hill Top or Pond View cabin? Which would you recommend?

If you're flexible, the Berkeley Springs area is also nice and has beautiful parks. We went through Berkeley Springs Cottage Rentals. They have many cabins available. We stayed in Rocky Ridge I.

I have posted about this place before-- The Cabins at Rose River Farm. We stayed there this summer and really enjoyed it. The cabins are brand new and they are round-- very cool-- check out the pictures on their website. It's 5 min from the park and only about 1:30 from Northern Virginia. We are looking to rent a nice two bedroom cabin for a family of 4 (kids 8-10) would like to be near the shenandoah National Park this fall. Just want to go for a weekend to see the leaves change maybe take a horseback ride my husband would like to fly fish. Any suggestions?
