I gave up finding anything ANYTHING that tastes as good as an average slice in Carroll Gardens.

Given what's available, and a desire to get more veggies into us and our child, I think Z pizza's the best around. It isn't authentic, but it is tasty.

Brooklyn transplant pp again here. Forgot to say that we like Pizzeria Paradiso pizza. They have a classic brick-oven style pizza that is similar to Grimaldi's in NYC and other brick-oven pizza places there.

Vace is outstanding (I used to be walk there before we bought the TH in suburbs and had DS) and I do love 2 Amy's (although pricey) 4 yrs ago I used to get a salad and a pizza and was $18 for carryout-probably more now but as a treat it was delicious!
Out in Mont County I do like Mamma Lucia (also not cheap but certain nights are buy one get second for 50% or less I forget) I grew up with NY pizza so I know the difference!

I have to say that I am not quite sure why Vace gets such raves. We moved here very recently from Brooklyn, and we ordered and ate a Vace pizza the other night. It was a fine dish, in and of itself. But it in no way resembles a NY pie. So, if you get one from Vace, know that it will be yummy but don't get your hopes up that it will be like NYC pizza.

I second Vace...it's truly the best (and absolutely, completely, ridiculously cheap!).

Moroni & Brother's at 4811 Georgia Ave. NW.

The owners worked for years at Pizzeria Paradiso and learned well. Kid-friendly also.

Love 2 Amys on Macomb near Wisconsin in Cleveland Park. Super thin crust, great toppings.

Vace in Cleveland Park & Bethesda. Hands down best in town in my NY pizza snob hubby's opinion.

Our DS loves pizza in all shapes, sizes, and textures.

My DH happens to be a pizza snob, insisting nothing outside of the NYC city limits qualifies as pizza.

Can anyone recommend a good pizza place? Interested in both the fancy gourmet pizza places as well as your corner carryout type establishment.

Thx.
