56... yes, decrease. I used to want sex 2-3 x a day, now I want it at least daily (only, lol) ...

things like BP meds etc., can have an effect but somewhat to my wife's dismay (? lol ?) I have as lusty a desire to jump her bones now as I did when she was 19 (when I met her 32 yrs ago).

My concern is what happens with lubrication after menopause. After I had kids and was breastfeeding, I was very dry and sex was painful, so the doc suggested estrogen cream. It didn't help that much. It was so nice to get my period again. Being able to get "wet" made sex much more pleasurable.

Isn't menopause exactly the same as having no period while breastfeeding?

I have to agree with this poster. I have 2 children in ES and between scheduling the lives of the kids (camps during the summer, after school during the year, play dates with friends who are not in the immediate neighborhood on the weekend, sleep overs, etc.) and my own life (I am a WOHM) I am usually pretty darned tired. My DH wants sex a couple of times a week and that is enough for me. It is funny, while I typically think I am too tired once we get rolling, I can get into it.

Pp again. Or maybe that all is to say that if you all talk about it and work things through (something we don't do - my bad, I know), you will may be just fine regardless of what physical changes you go through.

My sex drive actually increased, starting around 39 or 40 . We have sex about twice a week, which is more than we had it when the kids were younger, and maybe a bit less than when we first got married.

I'm 52 and in PMP. No decreased libido on my part or DH's, I'm glad to say. The only problem we have is finding a time to have sex -- OTOH, b/c our kids are older, we have the house to ourselves more often; OTOH, when they are home, they're up very late at night and often have friends over, so we have to keep things pretty quiet.

I'm 40 and keep reading about decreased libido in the 40's-50's, particularly with menopause. Has anyone here been able to maintain a healthy sexual relationship with their partner despite perimenopause/menopause?
Would love to hear some less discouraging scenarios.
