Subject: Why so crafty?
Are you sure it's not just that once they get older, women stop taking as much crap? Younger women are expected to be very polite and deferential, and as I get older, I have much less tolerance for putting up with people's rudeness.

Is crafty even used correctly, OP? Being crafty means you're subtle. Giving the stink eye is not subtle, nor is butting in line. I suppose stealng a seat could be subtle b/c you could always play dumb if you're caught.
But you basically made yourself look foolish from the start by using a word incorrectly in your attempt at slamming women at the "onset of menopause."

OP here. ITA with PP. Maybe my expectations of people of a certain age are higher, I expect them to know better; but the entitlement makes sense. MIL comes to mind - LOL. Is it to say that the rude ones are as bitter as she? 
Really, when it happens the first thing that goes through my head is: "such entitlement - you're surprised"? As if I should have known to expect it. That's bad.

I expect people of a certain age to behave better than the rest of us because they have hopefully become wiser.
So greedy old men or inconsiderate old women always shock me more than the self-absorbed youngsters who don't know any better.
Another way of looking at it is that older folk may think themselves entitled to cutting in line, etc, because they have given enough to others during their lives. They lose inhibitions and think that now is their "me" time.
So between the self-centered childless youth and the selfish empty-nest aged, the most empathetic and compassionate are the mothers of young children, with elevated maternal instincts and a need to model a good example! Me!

Hmmm - does craftiness include producing archly written anonymous posts?
I did have a woman cut in ahead of me in the line at the Levine Music Camp final performance who might fit your stereotype, but those of us giving her the evil eye included everyone from 29 to 80.
I think hormones can only accentuate your already existent traits. Wonder what you'll be like post menopause??

Well, let's see. How about the 20-something girl who snaked her way into the parking space I was in the middle of backing into? Or the other young chickie who was so engrossed in her cell phone convo that she walked into the back of my vehicle, then yelled at me for being in her way?
There are rude people everywhere of all ages, colors, genders, you name it. Just be mindful of how you treat others and try to see yourself as others see you.
