Subject: Anita Nair at Shady Grove?
We're using her, and she's ok. We had someone else at Shady Grove for our first (Browne), who I thought was better, actually. The nurse we had for the first time was so horrible, though, we didn't even want to risk getting that nurse again. She made me cry several times, and when we wanted to do timed intercourse instead of IUI, she basically told me we obviously didn't want kids because it was stupid to go that route. (worked out just fine, actually, and much better for my husband emotionally.)
For #2, Nair is just using the protocol I used successfully for # 1. I will agree with PP, she definitely wasted a cycle, and she doesn't seem to appreciate the expense and emotional outlay the whole experience requires.

She doesn't know what she's doing, and I don't think she reads patients' charts--on a 3 day baseline ultrasound she asked what medication I was on, I told her I hadn't taken any medication yet. . . I would work with someone who will pay attention to your case.

Like a prior poster, I found Dr. Nair to very patronizing. DH and I finally had enough and switched. I always felt like she was following a script and that she treated me like I was a silly jr. high school girl.

I actually liked Dr. Nair at first but she gave me a protocol that makes no sense for my age and circumstances, and wasted a cycle, not to mention money. Also, she was not really willing to answer questions "you have to trust me" was what I'd hear after one or two questions--for the thousands of dollars I was spending, that was not good enough for me.
Widra is fabulous, always answers questions patiently. I would recommend switching to him. I did and received absolutely no trouble from SG.

No I switched from CFA. And had I done a search on this forum about the doctor I left, I'd have found posts, mostly 1-2 years ago, from people who also hated him and had a similar bad experience.
But I have put it past me so if anyone posts about him specifically, I'll answer but I am not going to go out of my way to badmouth him.

OP here, I met with her and loved her! Right now I'm doing natural IUI, and I'm fine sticking with her if we move to Clomid/trigger.
I was immediately at ease, SOOoooo different from the last doctor.
Sticking with her, for me, the bedside manner matters a lot in this process, though I would have thought it was not as important. The last doctor was so bad that the stress of dealling with him would have completely undermined the process.
She was straightforward, calm, happy to give me the information but let me make the decisions based on that.
And Shady Grove is organized and the staff was much more professional too.

I saw Dr. Osborn at Shady Grove, but saw Widra for at least 1/2 of my monitoring visits, and Dr. Nair at least once. Thought she was fine -- no strong opinions either way. Regardless of which doc you pic, you'll see whoever is there and on duty for monitoring appts, especially the weekend visits in Rockville so I found it as important that I liked the office staff and location.

I've only seen her a couple of times when my regular doc (Widra) was unavailable. Found her a bit annoying the first time and OK the second. I preferred Widra, who I admit can be a bit of an odd duck personality-wise, but that could be due to the fact that I've worked with him for a long time and know his quirks.
