^ Can you call your pediatrician and get in to see her/him first?

Hi my daughter is 3years she was ok when she went to school but when she back from school she vomited and she had 100.6 fever. I am worried do I need to take her hospipal now?

Strep is usually not accompanied by vomiting. I'd get child seen by dr.

My 5 year old had sudden onset high temp (104) with watery eyes, and one episode of vomiting. No sore throat. Tested for strep as we were unable to determine if a rash on his trunk was an eczema flare up or a strep rash. Doc gave me a hard time about doing the culture, I was right. Strep. Incidentally, I have a 9 and 3 year old as well, and this is our first ever bout with strep. GL...certainly could be a virus too.

102.5 is definitely not high -- it may be moderate, definitely not high. The number itself is nowhere near concerning (we've been 105 plus and our ped still did not panic but did prefer that it go down!).

We've had a number of illnesses that have come on as you stated. Most were viral, one was a sinus infection.

Definitely check for strep. My 2-year-old had it earlier in the week and also started with a high fever and vomiting--never complained of a sore throat and I was assuming it was a stomach bug until the vomiting stopped and the fever stayed 103+. He also said his eyes hurt, which I am putting down to a headache from the fever/strep in retrospect, though it really freaked me out at the time and had the ped concerned about meningitis as well.

Strep - get him tested.

23:17 again. I also should mention when my son had this, the onset was super sudden, just like you described. He was about as sick as I've seen him. One dose of amox later and he was MUCH better. Keep him dosed with ibuprofen until you can get him to a doc. A bag of ice wrapped in a washcloth also really helped the headache/fever.

I would stay close tonight and take him to urgent care in the morning if his symptoms remain as acute.

Sounds like strep. It is going around and my son had these exact symptoms. It can cause terrible headaches and vomiting.

The bad headache in conjunction is worrisome (meningitis). I would call the pediatricin, defintely. Better to be safe. Hope he fees bettersoon.

You should always call the pediatrician if you are concerned.

I don't think 102 fever in a six year old child by itself is considered a very high fever, but it sure is a fever! But what matters more thanthe temp is how your child feels.

The afternoon/evening is typically when my children spike high fevers.

It sounds like he might just have the stomach bug. If it were me, I'd stay close. Make sure he isn't overheating. Bring some cool washcloths to sponge his face and hands and don't cover him with too many clothes or blankets so he can cool off.

by all means give the ped a call and just touch base, but right now it just sounds like your child is sick.

Hi -- my son was completely fine all day and then within a space of about 30 minutes started complaining of a bad headache, then got very cold (chills), went from no apparent fever or problem to 102.4, and then about 20 minutes later vomited a ton. I just dosed him with ibuprofen and put him to bed. He passed out immediately.

Haven't had anything like this in years. Is this considered a high fever? Should I call the pediatrician? It just came on so suddenly I'm a little taken aback.
