I 2nd the original Star Wars (Empire Strikes back is a little dark). The more recent series is more violent, the first one seems less violent and dark then the next 2.
Rise of the Guardians should be out on DVD. 5 yr DS loved this in the theaters.
Wall-e
Monsters Inc
Toy Story and Cars movies
I can't remember the title but there are movies about golden retrievers that he loves.
Not sure if Ninjago or Transformers Rescue Bots are in NetFlix
Spy Kids

Monsters Inc is terrific, as PPs said, and Aladdin. Those two are the top faves at our house. I'll also put in a vote for the Wizard of Oz. Ooh, and episodes of the Muppets and Fraggle Rock.
Does anyone else have the feeling that a lot of the Pixar movies (I'm thinking of Up, The Incredibles, and Wall-E) are really more for adults? I find myself shushing my kid because I'm enjoying them so much, and they don't really hold her attention. She's only four, though. Perhaps things will change in the next year or two?

Ponyo was the first feature-length film my 6 year old saw (when he was 4). Very good movie.

How to Tame Your Dragon
Avatar: The Last Airbender (cartoon on Nick, not the terrible movie version)
The Incredibles
Ponyo
Bolt
Night at the Museum
Spy Kids
Finding Nemo
Monsters vs. Aliens
And we also let him watch Harry Potter and Spiderman and Star Wars. Not for every 5 year old, but he loved all of them.

The Incredibles
All the Ice Age movies
Land Before Time (an older Steven Spielberg movie about dinosuars)
Ratatoulle
Oddly, my kids also like Mary Poppins ( the original with Julie Andrews), and we just watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which was good but a bit long for them

My boys liked those too, but I felt like I had exhausted my options...
So I let them watch the original Star Wars. It is a bit of a jump after the more friendly G-movies... but my boys loved it. And I don't think the original one is too violent (although there is lots of blasting... and my kids promptly decided they wanted blasters for Christmas... so maybe I overdid it.)
Oh, My kids also liked Ice Age, Mulan, and Monsters Inc. Those are a bit more kid friendly.

Here are movies that my boy has watched and has loved:
All three Toy Story movies
Shrek
Cars
Finding Nemo
Lots of Scooby Doo movies and TV show episodes
Alice in Wonderland (the Disney cartoon movie not the scary Johnny Depp one)
Elf (Will Ferrel)
Horton Hears a Who
Other ideas? Want to start gathering some new ones for vacation this summer (playing all day and then winding down with a movie in the evening).
