15:42, you're comparing k-12 vs k-8.

Isn't WIS much higher ranked than Norwood? Where do the WIS kids to go college, versus the Norwood alums?

We like the K-8 model. Would also recommend that you ask specific questions regarding academic "differentiation" offered at each school -- press for answers beyond, "yes, the teachers are great at differentiating and challenging each individual learner" and ask for the logistics of how this is implemented -- reading and/or math specialists, ability grouping etc.

I would go to WIS, because it becomes increasingly difficult to get into that school in upper grades. If WIS doesn't work out, you can always apply to other schools (even a re-apply to Norwood) explaining that WIS wasn't the right fit for your child because of the foreign language immersion issues. Bottom line -- you can re-apply to Norwood from WIS, but I don't think you can move as easily from Norwood to WIS. So choose WIS.

Go to the welcome coffees - talk to the teachers and staff, current parents, other accepted families and look to see which feels like the best fit for your child.

WIS for sure.

I agree with 10:07. All three of my DCs wanted to switch to a new HS even though they were all in a PK-12 school. After 10 years with the same kids in the same school, they just wanted a change and we supported it.

We are in the same situation and leaning towards Norwood.

12 years is a long time to stay at one school. I wouldn't let the k-12 thing be too big of a factor. Go with your gut.

Norwood parent who has friends with kids at WIS. From what they tell me, I don't believe your dc will have problems adjusting to the language immersion even though you speak only English at home. But it was one of our considerations in going with Norwood instead of WIS.

I'd pick Norwood if you only speak English at home.

Our DC got into WIS and Norwood for Kindergarten. We live between the two schools so the commute isn't really a factor. We really liked both schools. We are leaning in favor of WIS because it's a K - 12 school and because of its great reputation. But we have some concern whether DC would have an unsettling first year since we speak only English at home. Do people have thoughts / suggestions on the students' relative experiences at WIS and Norwood? Thanks in advance.
