I'm the OP of this and wanted to say I've gone to the Tysons kiosks several times since I posted and have been happy with the results. I can't wax anymore as my skin is too sensitive and stays red for days so threading is a great alternative.

I used to go to the Tyson's kiosk by the Tea store, too, until I realized two things: 1 - every time they did my brows, they were uneven, and once that happens with my brows, there really is no way to fix it without making them too skinny and hence very weird on my face; 2 - it's INCREDIBLY painful. I've gone back to waxing in a reputable salon where I use the same 2 people depending on availability. It's a shame because I liked the idea of threading.

Hi, I go to that kiosk (now situated in a space near Lord and Taylor) all the time. I am extremely pleased with their work. When they do my brows, sides and upper lip, I pay/paid $32. I can't remember how much the eyebrows are/were separately. I always went to Jas but she moved away. Last time I went to Samzone and she did an even better job. I am very happy with the two woman I have gone to. Today will be the first time for me to go to their new location at Tysons inside a store space. I hope their new non-kiosk space is as easy to get to as was previously.

I'm intrigues but I don't think I could go to one of the mall places. There is something about grooming in public that turns me off.

How does eyebrow threading work, exactly?

OP here. I ended up trying one of the kiosks at Tysons and was happy with the results, and the price ($10). It was quick and I had it done with my baby in the stroller next to me.

I love threading. I never thought that waxing gave a good shape. If you think something is not matched up right, ask them to fix it before you leave!!! that's why they hand you a mirror.

I get my lip done too...its a little painful, but the one time i waxed it i got little bumps all over my upper lip that lasted a month. it was horribly embarassing. threading is MUCH better.

Anyone have any thoughts on the threading place in Union Station?

I've had mixed results with the kiosk at Tyson's (they have two - I've been to the one next to the tea shop). I just had it done this past weekend and I'm really happy with the results. Same with the first time I did it. There was a time in the middle, though, when the shape was not very great - it was a tad bit crooked. Thankfully, my bangs always grow over one eyebrow, so it wasn't noticeable to anyone but me. All three times it lasted longer than waxing.

If you're looking in McLean, there is a salon near the intersection of Chain Bridge and Old Dominion - just before the Bank of America in the brown brick building. They do threading there, and I was happier with the result than the place in Tysons. Sorry no specifics - I'm out of the area now. (Last time I went was last summer.)

The one at Montgomery Mall across from the movie theatre/Bubbles is good if you get the older lady. There is a younger girl there who kind of shredded my eyebrows once leaving a couple of very small scabs. Not the look I was going for. But the older lady was fine and has a good eye.

There is also a threading booth on the Old Navy side of the mall, but I haven't been to that one.

Disagree on that last part. It was probably not done right (unless you had some ingrowns) because it is supposed to remove the hair from the root. I've been getting mine threaded for years and it take a good 3 to 4 weeks to grow back.

I did an eyebrow threading at Tysons. It was cheap and I was desperate. It was ok, but the arch was awful. I guess I should say lack of arch . .. I didn't know you could trim eyebrows in such a way that they look almost straight across on the bottom. I think it is because in order to get the threading to work, you have to use both hands to hold the skin above and below your eyebrow so it is really tight. Also, I had regrowth within a week, so I think the threading does more cutting of the hair than it does actual pulling.

I saw an eyebrow threading store at Montgomery Mall. Anyone been there? How was it?
