Is it? My mother, who works with toddlers with developmental delays in a well-regarded government program (so she knows about early childhood education), is thrilled with my DD's daycare. The teachers, all of whom either have college degrees or are currently in college, are warm and loving and DD is happy (we've picked her up at different times without notice so we can tell). And she is learning a ton.

Unfortunately our daycare is not in Tyson's, so we aren't much help to OP. Sorry!

In light of the Goddard post at the top of the forum, I'm going to first state I have nothing whatsoever to do with Goddard. I live in the adjacent neighborhood of their new location at Tysons:

They built a very nice playground and since it's new, they may have openings.

I’m incredibly satisfied with the Greensboro dr location. I’ve had drop in cars here and the teachers have been engaging and positive

I have had an excellent experience at Tysons Corner Children's Center. The teachers are patient and caring and the management is very responsive and invested in the children.

Why would do that? If your LO is 2, choose a preschool. Daycare is, well, just that- daycare.

Hi,

We're looking to put our 2 year old at the BH on Greensboro. Anyone have any recent experience or feedback to share with us?

Thanks!

We are looking at having our 1 1/2 year old at the Booz Allen center soon, and wanted to see if things have been going well since these posts back in January.

As far as cost, its definitely more expensive than any others we are looking at, so curious if the costs have gone up recently, or if they were always high?

Also want to get a sense of the teachers, but it does sound like a couple of you have had very positive experiences, for the most part.

Any other feedback (cleanliness, feeding, level of care, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

My child's at the Booz Allen center, which is not open to the public. (You didn't mention if you or your partner work there, so I just wanted to make sure you knew - it's not like the other area BH's with federal preference, this one is really just for Booz Allen.)

Overall it's been a positive experience, and you can't beat the proximity - when my child was younger, I'd visit regularly to nurse or have lunch. There was one room we had a less-than-stellar experience with (had a lot of turnover that year) but things seem to have settled down and in general I'd highly recommend the center. Many of my colleagues have kept their kids there from infancy all the way to pre-K. I *loved* the two women who taught in the room your child would probably be in, but am sad to say that one is retiring. Her co-teacher was fabulous too, and hopefully they'll find a replacement quickly! It's something to ask about if you tour...

Alternately, a friend of mine has had a very positive experience with the toddler room at the other BH on Greensboro, so much so that she opted not to move her child to Booz Allen's when a spot opened up there afterward. That's one nice thing about the BH: when you join the wait-list, you get to list up to 3 BH locations for the single application fee.

Good luck in your search!

We have had our infant daughter at the Bright Horizons on Greensboro Dr for about a year now and have generally had a very good experience. We've had remarkably little turnover in teachers and have been very impressed with the teachers throughout the center. The director did leave recently, which made things difficult for a while, although the new director just started this week so I'm hoping things will get back to normal again. It is definitely worth checking out. It is one of the more expensive ones in the area.

We had also looked at Tysons Corner Children's Center, but couldn't get in without paying to be on the preferred list, which I just didn't feel like was a fair practice, since there was no guarantee that we would get in even if paying the extra amount. There is also First Steps, which we looked at and nearly moved to at one point, but I didn't want to take the risk of moving once we'd already started at Bright Horizons and were pretty happy.

Post back if you have any questions.

Hi,

We just moved to Northern Virginia and are considering putting our 1-year old in daycare in the Tysons Corner area. We have heard of Tysons Corner Children's Center (TCCC) and the two Bright Horizons locations (at Booz Allen and at 8405 Greensboro Dr). Does anyone have their child(ren) at any of these locations? If so, we would love to hear about your experiences so far and how long you've been members. In particular, we're wondering about the quality of the teachers/caregivers, the structure/curriculum, and the service overall for the cost.

Alternatively, please feel free to suggest any other centers you recommend.

Thanks so much!
