Does your kid have any hooks? Lots of community service? Georgetown loves numbers, and those scores are low (especially for EA) at Georgetown. Would probably have a better shot RD, but then you'd have to forego the ED bump at Emory.

For government. A wash on business. But for everything else, Emory is the better comprehensive school.
For whatever reason, Georgetown doesn't really do science, tech, engineering, cs and so on. Plus Georgetown is much more a rich kid school these days. It's limiting.

Emory gets really difficult RD because they fill most of their class ED 1 and 2. My kid got into 4 Ivies RD but not Emory. Would not have picked it but Emory RD is hard. Kid was also rejected RD from Vanderbilt and Boston College---2 more ED-heavy schools.

Emory has become what Hopkins is perceived to be --dominated by gunners, especially pre meds who don't care much about anything beside academics. Hopkins is actually more fun -- with more dynamic greek life and a much bigger sports scene. Georgetown lacks greek life, but is much more work hard, play hard than emory.

I have a student who applied to both, got into one, and is at one of the two. Emory is great for business and pre-med. Georgetown for IR/government. Two different schools with different social vibes. More older money/famous people kids at Georgetown whereas Emory is more “New South”/immigrant/Northern transplant.
