As I recall, the biggest thing after my surgery 2 years ago was limited activity for a week or so. Nothing that could get "junk" in the eye(s) -- sand, sweat, etc. So no hikes, no ocean, no swimming, etc. I went to a football game 3 days later. My doc said "Yes, go to the game. No you can't play football." I think the restriction in activity was 10 days at most, but again, ask your doctor.

It is a mind-blowing surgery, though. Colors are so much more vivid. My vision is clear (2 years later, I'm seeing 20/25 or 20/30; before surgery, both eyes were -12 or "higher" for contacts and even then, I could barely get to 20/35.).

Not after any recent cataract surgery. "Lying down" is a retinal detachment situation.

Some docs will do both at once these days.

Thanks, all. Protection sounds like a good plan. Seeing Olivia without corrective glasses will be amazing, though.

Anyone know how long they wait to do second eye?

I drove my dad back from his and he just had to do eyedrops. It's mostly very simple. Lying down sounds like retinal detachment.

OP get some rec specs if you are worried about protection.

Weird question--2 weeks later, is it too risky to go to this kind of concert (with my kids?) Scheduling this surgery is complicated, every week this fall, I have something. The concert could have fog, smoke, people bumping into me? What if I take an elbow to the eye by someone really tall?

Or, will 2 weeks be plenty of time assuming I comply with all drops and protocols?
