This feels insane to me, just wondering how others manage this and if this is typical.

My 9 year old has a crush on a boy who also has a crush on her. They definitely haven't "asked each other out" and aren't "boyfriend girlfriend" but they have regular play dates just like a same gender friend (at our house and at his house). They have a lot in common. There isn't any hand holding or anything. They just play together! It's really genuine and sweet. I even took them both to a local outdoors zipline park and we all 3 had a blast together.

Sounds like they are friends to me.

PP here...forgot to mention that neither of them have access to a phone or iPad for texting or any communication. All communication and setting up play dates is done by me and his mom.
