Get rid of what doesn’t fit, things that are lower quality, and the things that never felt quite like “you.”

Does anyone have a list of clothes that are dated? I know about getting rid of clothes I haven't worn in a while, or that are ratty. The former is tricky because I am losing weight. Which is why the old clothes are coming out.

I would keep skinny jeans if they look good on you, and a jeans skirt IF you are into country music and go to the Deep South or country music concerts. I'd get rid of any cold shoulder shirts. Any peplum shirts. We are over Rothy's and into loafers now, but if they're in good condition you should keep them bc flats always come back around (like loafers).

Why would you ever get rid of a well fitting denim skirt? They are in most years even if they "take a breaK" for a few.

I wish I'd saved my Birks and Sambas from the 90s. My j crew roll sweaters are back.

Denim skirts are having a moment, longer an a-line styles in particular.

Get rid of the rest of it. I know people swear that skinny jeans are making a comeback . . . but the fitted, pre-pandemic versions are going to look dated, and you have to style them carefully to make them feel current.

Ha, ha, I have a 16 and a 18 year old. And they do have opinions! Which is messing me up because I also don't need to look like a trendy teen.

Get rid of any tees or knit tops that are made of very thin material....very unflattering and cheap looking.

If you have the body for skinny jeans they always work. If you are larger than a size 4 get rid of them.

If you have clothes from 2010 hang onto them because they are better made than anything today.

Unfortunately this is not going to be as easy as you want it to be. For example, some denim skirts are timeless and some are hopelessly dated. There are a million details (length, fabric weight, distressing, color, etc) that will swing it one way or another.

1. Get rid of anything you feel too old for. Do you still wear the highest heels in your closet?
2. Things in bad condition can go.
3. Cheap fast fashion that doesn't wash well can just be thrown away.

Denim skirts, skinny jeans, long tops, tops with trumpet sleeves - are all of these totally outmoded in 2026? Anything else?

Please don't tell me I can wear whatever makes me feel good. Believe me when I say I am not a slave to fashion. But I don't want to look like I am stuck in 2010 either.
