+1 you can be in either or both. My DC got the PT AAP email last spring for this school year (grade 5). The school made a point to explain that that had nothing to do with placement into advanced math. Then in the spring, they separately decided who would be placed into advanced math.

Kid was 2 points away from Pass Advanced in Math SOL this year. and heard from a friend that only kids who got pass advanced would be allowed to stay in advanced math. Could that be why we haven't received the letter? Would my kid get kicked out b/c of the SOL score?
