Look at NCAP Burke. They’re Silver 1 is 5-7 M-F plus dryland before hand 2 days a week, then they move up to Gold and it’s right after school. Lots of kids at that level.

Unless there’s a big schedule change for next year, the Gold group with evening practices is Gold Prep. It’s four days a week (3 during HS swim season) for only 9 months. Most kids in that group aren’t making Jr/Sr champs cuts, never mind sectionals. As far as NCAP NOVA goes, OP wants Gold 1 at Marymount or Gold 2 at Tysons but they are - or have been up until now - morning programs.

Not the poster above, but there is a big schedule change - there is now Gold 2 and 3 with two levels with in Gold 3. I believe Gold 3B is similar to prep. Gold A is year round. We were considering a move from Marymount to Tysons for Gold, but my understanding is that they are trying to use the same names at both locations.

Is gold 3A for competitive kids? Would a kid with almost sectionals cuts fit in there?

No, Gold 3 is not the group for sectional level swimmers. I would say Gold 2 is probably the best fit for your swimmer as a rising freshman who is close to sectional cuts but does not have any yet.

Tysons and Marymount function as 1 combined site for the fast HS swimmers - NCAP NoVa. Gold 1 runs out of Marymount and it is generally HS swimmers with sectional cuts. Gold 2 runs out of Tysons and is the HS kids that are not quite ready for Gold 1. Gold 3 is offered at Marymount and Tysons and is for HS kids that like swimming competitively but are not particularly fast and/or multi sport athletes whose primary sport is not swim.

Is Gold 3 the same as Gold Prep?

This is good to know - I tried to look at their schedule online and it says coming soon. Which Gold group are you considering?

I don't want to out myself with too much information but I would email Kelly Rose. Gold 3 would probably meet your needs.

Anonymous wrote:My 13 year old DD (rising freshman) is just shy of several sectionals cuts. The practice group our current team wants her to join this fall is 6 mornings a week. M-W at 4:45 am and Sat at 6 am. This feels insane. I have looked into a few club's evening groups but they seem to only offer 3-4 practices a week and aren't highly competitive. Are there any teams that don't require insane morning hours for higher level swimmers? TIA.

OP here - I meant M-F at 4:45 am.

You really should indicate where you are located. Programs in Warrenton, Manassas, and McLean might all fit the bill, but geographically, one one of those locations will work for you.
