I have only about 5 jewellery items I wear regularly. My Cartier trinity wedding band, my Harry Winston cushion cut canary diamond engagement ring, Harry Winston 2ct cushion cut diamond studs, Roberto Coin inside-out diamond hoops, and an old Hermes Chain d'ancre silver necklace. I don't wear bracelets and I do have a small collection of watches I alternate through.

What exactly do you mean by confetti necklace? I googled it and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on what it is.

Jewelry is great! And the last category I would want to make a capsule.

I love layering thin necklaces and personalizing them with interesting pendants....I know it's basic and overdone but it looks good with lower necklines.
I get a ton of wear out of my thin gold bangle bracelet that I pair with beaded bracelets, a watch or whatever.

OP, it sounds like you need some signature pieces with personality.

Is there a colored gemstone that you like or that matches your wardrobe? Maybe adding some colorful pieces with something like garnet, aquamarine, or even multiple stones would be a good idea. Enamel bangles can also be fun.

I have in platinum or white gold:
diamond studs
2 diamond pendant necklaces
a diamonds by the yard necklace (not the tiffanys branded one but the same look)
engagement ring
wedding and diamond anniversary bands
pearl necklace
pearl and diamond studs
cartier watch

I also have a simple silver bangle and a simple gold bangle, gold hoops, and a couple of thin gold chains. Lots of costume earrings and necklaces, too.

I wear silver because of my coloring, and if I wear a "stone" it's amber, onyx, or pearl. I have a wheat chain, a couple enameled pendants, and a strand of pearls. Earrings are mostly silver or pearl studs.

Wow, I love jewelry and have all kinds of not that expensive but artsy jewelry I have bought all over. It's my thing. Think I need some quality basic pieces as I don't really have those!

Everything you mentioned is very basic and expensive. There is nothing wrong with this, but is it to your personal taste? Expensive taste is not good taste. Advising a stranger with regard to jewelry, without at least looking at them, is virtually impossible.

I've been getting more into jewelry lately and trying to invest in timeless, high-quality pieces. I have some expensive-ish stuff, but most is very "branded" -(is that the right word? Stuff like David Yurman bracelets and a Van Cleef necklace) and I'm trying to move away from that. What are the essentials in your collection?

Currently have a diamond pendant necklace, diamond studs (smaller side), gold studs, gold hoops, gold Van Cleef necklace, a few silver/gold David Yurman bracelets. I've had my eye on a simple gold chain necklace next.
