If you come visit my lake house, please invite just yourselves. We have everything we need, and we love seeing our friends.
If you want to bring a hostess gift, I’d love some fresh fruit or a bottle of rose, that we can enjoy together.
Because I take pride in my lake house and in hosting, we are all stocked up on the basics of lake living, like towels, tumblers and snacks. But I don’t stock kid goggles so pease bring your own.

I never expect a hostess gift when I host. It actually makes me upset to think that my already busy friends may be stressing about having to stop on the way and get something, or whether that thing is “just right” for the occasion. Even when I express this to them they still stop for flowers or something. I truly just want to host for the company. Posts like these make me upset because it just perpetuates the notion that you can’t show up empty handed. You can to my house! Come and relax and enjoy.

I'd be happier if you brought your own towels and water bottles and goggles. I generally wouldn't want any extra plastic ware.

I wouldn’t think it was necessary to bring a gift if I was just going to swim 🏊🏻♀️ for a few hrs.
But if I were staying for a meal, then of course I would contribute something edible or kitchen-related.
If I am invited to sleep over then I likely will arrive w/a hostess gift.
Especially if I will be staying for the weekend.

We have to replace items so often that not much matches by the end of the summer anyways. But pretty much anything patriotic/beachy/tropical will at least coordinate with what we have.

If you come to my lake house to swim, I’d be elated to receive: extra kid goggles, a new beach towel, plastic tumblers, or all varieties of drinks/sodas/salty snacks. Thank you.
