DH travels for work every 2-3 weeks and I travel every 2-3 months. Neither of us ever pick each other up from the airport.

I guess some people see it as an act of love to have someone wiling to drive the hour+ round trip and then sit around waiting in an airport parking lot for potentially another hour+ more just to see their spouse 30 minutes sooner, but honestly, even absent the unnecessary burden to my spouse, after getting off a long flight I’d much rather be able to hop in an expensed taxi/uber immediately and get home quicker rather than inevitably waiting the minimum 15-20 minutes (and potentially longer) that it takes for spouse to figure out my exiting location and circle around to collect me.

My spouse would use the free Uber, so probably never. However, if my spouse had a legitimate reason and asked me, I would pick him up as needed.

I pick up my wife when she travels. I think she’s more comfortable with it than uber regardless who pays.

I get this. But I wonder if you’d feel this way in the reverse scenario. I don’t like making the airport drive but I will do it if I don’t have a conflict because DH always insists on driving me to and from. We’re about 30 minutes from Dulles using the access road so it’s not terrible though DCA is more of a pain for me. I’m not suggesting disrupting a busy day or taking off from work but what if you have no other plans?

DH doesn’t travel that often but travels a few times a year. Since it’s not often and I don’t work, I’d be happy to drive him if it wasn’t in bad weather or at a ridiculous hour. Fortunately, he and his colleagues just carpool. They did Uber once because their flight was rebooked to BWI from DCA and it was the middle of the night. I told him to uber and expense it. Ideally if your spouse can be reimbursed for the Uber and your work is disrupted by driving, I think asking them to use a Uber is very reasonable.

Unless we're doing something before or after together (sometimes the kids like hanging out before a trip, if it's a weekend flight), pretty much never. Spouse travels about once a month.

Never. That’s what the company expense is for??? If it were personal travel, however, I’d do it.

I would start from zero and move up from there based on circumstances and what else I have going on. If it was off hours for traffic, I have nothing else to do (including no kids) sometimes I don’t mind a drive and it’s nice to do a favor.
