Agree with this. And we really like the Principal, though we do know some with strong negative opinions, but no clear argument against her has ever been articulated to me. I think she's just matter-of-fact and not going to bend over backwards to meet the (sometimes unrealistic/irrational) demands of every parent. One of our kids has a 504 and we've never had any issues; in fact, she's provided valuable input and guidance in our meetings over several years. We also loved the former AP who is now the P at Taylor, FWIW.

I expect APS will keep trying to close the school and they probably have a good argument given the numbers and proximity of other schools. We've loved our time there, including and especially its small size, but understood they need to solve for macro numbers. We would have been sad if they closed this year, but I'm confident the other neighborhood school we would have moved to would have been just as great (and that would be true for any of the nearby schools). For that reason, we were not part of the parent contingent campaigning and lecturing at school board meetings, though we followed it closely.

We've loved it, but I can't imagine it was a wildly differentiated experience from any of the other N. Arlington neighborhood elementaries.

I have a clear argument against her but I'm not going to share due to privacy. Probably that's why you haven't personally heard a clear argument against her - other parents don't want to share their kid's personal and sensitive details with you. I can absolutely tell you it's a her problem and not the parents. Why are you so quick to assume other parents are irrational?

Any idea where the kids will go if it closes? And how probable is the prospect of it closing?

It isn’t closing. APS says they’ve abandoned that plan which was tremendously ill-planned, short sighted and lacked any funding. Their plan at the time indicated students would’ve been absorbed by Tuckahoe and Discovery.

This is not true at all imo. If you are having any sort of interaction with her, your kid is a Pita.

Agree with all of this.

- Nottingham parent.

I think the least liked teacher is retiring this year.

Some parents from a while ago don’t like her. She isn’t the warm and fuzzy type but she’s just fine. And Nottingham is a great place that is exactly what you’d want from an elementary school.

Completely disagree. She was really great with my difficult, neurodivergent child.
