It has always seemed self evident to me that renting clothes is a poor financial decision.

I do a box (of new) of clothes every couple of months. It's specifically for shorter women. I usually keep 1 or 2 items and shit the rest back. I have the hardest time finding clothes that fit me in the stores because I'm 4.11 so this saves me a lot of trips and aggravation.

The big events I attend are usually weddings. If attendees don’t overlap, I have no problem re-wearing clothes. I have a hard enough time buying clothes online and being happy with how they fit. Renting seems like more of a crapshoot.

I too like rentals, but i'm adhd and get tired of repeating outfits. Reminds me of having to wear a daily uniform for twelve years. I'd spend so much more buying so it's cost effective for me. But i'm not your demographic and get your point.

Would never cross my mind to sign up for something like that. It's very hard to think that you don't have a privileged life and $5k should be nothing to you.

I found that I am the sort of person who appreciates re wearing nice items. I also regretted money spent on rentals. I tried it for every day work wear for a few months and either i hated an item or i wished i owned it. It wasn't a good set up for me. But I have coworkers who value new outfits and have small apartments and predicable sizing and love getting a package each week/month with their new clothes.

There’s nothing gross about buying or renting pre-worn clothes. I buy from Anthropologie and sometimes look at their Nuuly site. I wouldn’t be interested in renting monthly but it doesn’t bother me that someone wore something before me. On Nuuly under the Sale part they sell their overstock or not being rented anymore clothes.

I got some Varley 1/4 zip pullover for $25 each. They sell at Varley for $148. Beautiful dresses from Farm Rio, Maeve and other Anthropologie and designer labels for 20% of retail price. It’s just one more option to look at when buying clothes.

thanks to ozempic, i've got 30 years of clothing to choose from when i have an event to attend. most of my recent wedding attire has been dresses that i first bought 25 years ago. 25 years ago me had some great taste.

I am in my early 30s and I LOVE my clothing subscription service. I WFH, so no need for work clothes (I have some staples for the 1-2x a month I need to go to the office or attend a work event).

Mine is $100 a month and I feel like it pays for itself: I'd previously spend $150-300 for wedding guest dresses I hardly liked and would rarely rewear, now, I can get a lovely dress and other items for $100.

I hardly buy clothes anymore save for activewear. I'm also pregnant now, so will use for maternity clothes.

Unfortunately with fast fashion and how fast trends change (seasonally now vs a couple of years due to social media), you probably saved a lot of money. Also if you had any weight changes. I wouldn’t beat yourself up over it. Nothing I own from 2021 is “in style” or seen as particularly modern anymore. Crazy!
