Be careful turning off the AC when you go away, a certain temperature makes your shelf stable foods go bad.

Lingering, not lightening ^^

Same. I do not understand. We have regular cleaners, take the trash out regularly, do laundry regularly, run the dishwasher nightly. We don’t wear shoes in the house, we don’t work out in the house. We have a small non-shedding dog that is bathed regularly.

I think it's lightening scent from the dog. I love animals so much but always can tell immediately by the smell if I'm entering a home with pets, no matter how clean it looks.

I don’t notice it with our house. And we keep the HVAC circulating while gone anyway

Same. We have no pets, our house smells like a new home when we come back. If your house stinks it's your pets, your carpets, dust, your house isn't as clean as you think it is.

I like the smell of ours too! It's just got that "home" smell that I don't notice otherwise. Sometimes I do notice the smell of the cat's dry food when we return, but that's probably because I leave a ton of it out when we are gone, which I don't normally do, since we only have someone come give them wet food every other day or so.

I love the smell of our house after I've been away for a bit. Not our old house though. It smelled of ammonia-ish even though nobody there ever had cats that we knew of.

Same. I don’t feel when I come home at the end of the day. I think it smells bad because when we are away we don’t open or close windows depending on the temperature, and it’s some sort of cold and stale smell even if the windows are cracked open.

My house always smells better when I come back from a few days away because I haven’t been cooking in it!

Anyone notice this? You go away for a while and come back, now you really smell what your house smells like to visitors. Day to day you can’t smell the smell of your own house. I think my house smells pretty good. When I visit my parents (the house I grew up in) it smells like moth balls or mold, but I never noticed it at the time.
