Why have you allowed her to not have a job? Why are you paying for things for her? You’re doing her no favors.

If you suspect mental health issues then she needs to be evaluated so that she can be diagnosed and start being properly treated.

If she doesn’t have issues, and everyone pays for everything for her, she will never experience consequences for not working.

Drive her around to talk to the military recruiters.

Tell her she has to join the military or get a 40 hour a week job.

She can be a trad wife if she can find a trad husband.

This is not real, and does a disservice to young adults with actual diagnoses who struggle with specific aspects of independence.

If you're real, condition your financial support on getting a full psychiatric evaluation, therapies and medication.

She has a problem. Just because it's undiagnosed doesn't mean it's not real. You have a special needs child and you have to figure this out. It's not a character defect.

I think this is on you OP. Did she not go to college or have internships? How does she pay for things? How does she travel without an ID? You’ve waited until she’s 24 to think this is an issue?

This can't be real.

Be patient.

My 24-year-old daughter has no driver's license, no ID, no bank account, and has never had a job. She doesn’t contribute to the household in any meaningful way.

When jobs come up, she says she doesn’t want to be a "wage slave," and believes regular jobs are beneath her, but she also has no alternative plan.

We've offered help, encouragement, and suggestions for years. Nothing changes.
