I paid $200 to get one of those marriot deals but then ended up not being able to use it because they didn’t have enough 2 bedroom units available during school breaks. I think if you’re more flexible about room type or when you go, it can be a great deal.

I did a great time share pitch at my parents time share in Cabo. It was a great buffet breakfast with mimosas.. then the kids kept interrupting the pitch so they offered to send all three to the kids club for free for 2 hours. Sure! Then they drove me around the resort on a golf cart for an hour giving me mimosas while they showed me the new construction. I asked tons of questions because I find all that really interesting but just kept saying “no, we have zero interest in buying!” Finally they let me go and I had a nice mimosa nap before picking up the kids from the kids club. (Which was normally $40/hours per kid, so $240.). They gave us coupons to do 2 free activities so we did a whale watching/snorkel trip and then a sunset sail with lovely snacks and drinks. It was like best ever time share pitch.

I actually would recommend that time share to anybody because it’s a great property.

Williamsburg always seemed to have condo time share communities with these schemes

100% no. They might give you a gift card for sitting through but no free tickets or hotel stays. Disney has no trouble selling its timeshares. We own 3 contracts and use the hell out of them and if we wanted to sell them, they would sell for more than we paid. It is one of the few timeshare programs that is “worth it.” There is an endless rental market of people who want to stay but don’t want to pay the Disney rates. And you can trade it into the other programs but those other resorts are rarely as nice. We just use it to go to the Disney property in Vero or Hawaii.

When we went to Massanuten for quick weekend, we noticed the “for sale” board inside the visitor center. So many condos listed for free.

Timeshare in general is an easy pass for us.

Thank you! It seems to drive most people crazy, but saying, "We're just not interested," like a broken record for an hour and half was actually pretty easy for us. Trying to capitalize on this newfound superpower and get more free vacations.

What ones have you heard of besides Massanutten?

i went to one and never again, the hotel is barely worth it like a cheap holiday inn and the reward at the end is often unusable like free gas but you have to submit receipts over a year and they will reimburse you 10 dollar a month. etc

I like free stuff, but hard pass on sitting through a miserable timeshare sales presentation. I hear a lot of them now bus you offsite for the presentation so that you’re held captive and unable to walk out.

We just got a free vacation (free stay of 4 days, 3 nights and a $300 resort credit for a family of two adults and four kids) by sitting through the timeshare presentation at Massanutten Resort and we learned that we're really good at saying no to salespeople... and now I want to know what other free vacations are available in this area for those willing to sit through a presentation and say no! What other deals like this are available within a few hours' drive of DC?
