Yes, I believe everyone understands the UK’s role here. Full disclosure: one of the articles I read this morning was from the UK, and they are well aware of their role.

Nobody said the violent protests were legit or necessary, and nobody said migrants are more violent than locals. But perception is reality and this sort of strong reaction most certainly stems from a collective tipping point rather than singular outrage to the actual incident.

The analogy to the George Floyd riots was aimed at underscoring how a collective reaction tends to occur when the masses reach a breaking point. Whether or not you accept the fact that any group can reach a breaking point…or whether you simply feel entitled to judge one protest worthy over another…the reality is rather obvious.

The comparison to Floyd is appropriate as the right said they could not take the protest messaging seriously due to property damage and setting fire to things. However in this instance, they want to take the protest messaging seriously when there is property damage and setting fire to things. Fox News is covering this all sympathetic to the Irish protestors.
