You're right. I'm sorry. We should all send our kids to private school. Problem solved! How silly of poor me.
Don’t have children until you can provide them with an education where they are safe.

There are simply too many students coming in at the same time, no one can physically look at every photo ID and double check that it's current.
Institutional buildings are just not built to keep out violent people, especially if those people are members of their own community.
If you want your tax dollars to go to secure turnstiles, like those installed in state of the art, modern buildings, then PAY UP. You stick your ID on the reader, and the little door or whatever opens up. If the ID has been deactivated by management, it stays closed. And that STILL doesn't guard against CURRENT EMPLOYEES who want to shoot up their workplace.
Then we get to metal detectors. We would need rows of them, like the turnstiles, to accommodate the influx of kids. And that STILL doesn't protect against 3D printed guns, that are by definition PLASTIC.
Finally, we have X-ray machines, like in airports. They easily detect 3D weapons. You want airport style security in every public school? We need to build large extensions and completely revamp the layout because there's no space to put enough of them in our buildings. And the county is not rich enough to afford them, even if they raise taxes, what with staffing and maintenance.
So. What do you want, OP?
